Albert
In contrast to his wife, who was almost exclusively interested in foreign policy,
Prince Albert took just as much interest in British domestic policy. Sometimes this
exposed him to harsh criticism, such as when the House of Commons was discussing the
abolition of tariffs on wheat imports. Albert appeared on the visitors’ gallery,
demonstrating his obvious support for the abolition and his opposition to the interests
of the landed aristocracy.
