9 November marks the anniversary of various significant events in German history. The shooting of Robert Blum in 1848, the proclamation of the republic in 1918 and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 coincidentally fell on this date.

The "Hitler Coup" and the return of the former crown prince in 1923, the November pogroms in 1938 and Georg Elser's assassination attempt on Hitler in 1939 were different: for them, 9 November was the programme, with direct or indirect references back to the 1918 revolution.

In the guided tour through "Roads not Taken", these special contexts are illuminated and explained.
