The Deutsches Historisches Museum Foundation is funded at the institutional level by the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media, as per a resolution passed by the German Bundestag. In addition, the Federal Commissioner also provides financial support for exhibitions and acquisitions.

The Deutsches Historisches Museum owes many of its projects and acquisitions to the additional support of other partners.
