Berlin.Dokument
2025
Berlin.document - under this title, the Zeughauskino presents a monthly programme of documentary films of Berlin in chronological order. The programmes tell a mosaic-like story of the city as it has been documented in often unknown footages shot on the fringes of the commercial film industry.
In January, Berlin.Dokument brings together two films by Helke Misselwitz that portray a Berlin baker's wife and the staff of a private coal shop in Prenzlauer Berg. Another issue of Material West-Berlin in February will once again present unusual, non-mainstream Berlin films, this time by Ken Kobland, Şerif Gören and Riki Kalbe. The quarterly program ends with Monika Hoffmann's feature-length documentary Die alten Leute vom Kreuzberger Kiez.
The curator of the series is the author and film historian Jeanpaul Goergen, who was awarded the Kinematheksverbund's honorary prize for services to film culture and film heritage in 2023 for his Berlin programmes, among other things.
