Crime Scene: Forest

Criminal cases in the forest

The forest was and is often the scene of criminal activities. Short stories, novels, fairytales and legends attest to the way the forest was perceived as a place of horror. Even today this perception is reinforced by reports of felonies as well as in crime thrillers.

And in fact the forest is usually a thinly populated and largely enigmatic area. Its topography allows semi-legal and criminal activities to take place. Spectacular attacks and murders occur in the forest particularly in times of war, upheaval and crisis.

Crime reports and photos still tell a tale of the sinister and frightening atmosphere in the forest. And mostly on Sunday evenings German television broadcasts cult crime series like tatort or POLIZEIRUF 110 that confirm that the forest is still the scene of numerous crimes.
