Vicky had met von Angeli at the great exhibition in Vienna in 1873. His style,
with it art is distinclty reflected in her later portraits such as those of her children.
Anton von Werner, who had met her in May 1875 in Venice, observed how she
enthusiastically grasped every opportunity to paint. There, together with
other painters, Vicky had been drawing heads in the studio of Ludwig Johann
Passini in Venice.
