Crown Princess Victoria the Paintress

All children of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert had been instructed in the art of painting since their childhood. The results of their artistic efforts often landed among the childrens’ presents for their parents. Some of the artists who were working on commission of the Royal Couple were also appointed painting instructors for the children. The paintings of Crown Princess Victoria clearly show the influence of her teachers William Leighton Leitch (watercolours) and Heinrich von Angeli (portraits in oil).
