An essential characteristic of Biedermeier art after 1820 is the use of
geometric and abstract forms.
The principle of the beauty of simple materials
is transformed into the creation of exciting combinations. Geometry no
longer determines only the basic form, but is also implemented in creating
the form of details.
The use of primary colours in kaleidoscope style and the utilization of Goethe's theory of colour become key principles of interior design. The colour scheme of the rooms and the furniture upholstery complement each other to form a harmonic unity. Early historicism brings the development of Biedermeier aesthetics to an end around 1830.
