5. DIALOGUE IN ART

Promoting international cultural dialogue
among the cultures of the world
is one of the tasks of the Goethe-Institut.
To this end it stages thousands of events each year.
How can we gauge whether this exchange really bears fruit?

Individuals visiting or taking part in an event
can provide information in person.
Reports in the press can invoke a number of impressions.
The results of intercultural dialogue
can be aesthetically perceived through art.
The examples selected here represent many different encounters
between artists and intellectuals from all fields.
They illustrate how an encounter with a stranger
can open up new aesthetic horizons.
The senses are sharpened, ready to perceive intercultural similarities
and to discover the attraction of intercultural differences.
